Orthognathic surgery, is surgery designed to correct conditions of the jaw and face related to structure, growth, sleep apnea, TMJ disorders, malocclusion problems owing to skeletal disharmonies, or other orthodontic problems that cannot be treated solely with orthodontic appliances.

  • Severe Class 2 skeletal patterns
  • Severe class 3 skeletal patterns
  • AOB
  • Severely increased overbites
  • Vertical maxillary excess
  • Mandibular asymmetry
  • Severe posterior crossbite
  • Patient selection:
    • Non growing patients at least 16 years
    • Pt led treatment
    • Dentally fit
    • Excellent OH

Multidisciplinary team:

  1. Orthodontists put teeth in correct place for post surgery
  2. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons perform surgery to a jointly agreed prescribed position
  3. Postsurgical orthodontics follows fine tuning occlusion
  4. GDP maintain dental and periodontal health.
